El Camino Wind Orchestra Registration

The El Camino Wind Orchestra (ECWO), conducted by Dr. Richard Roper, is a woodwind, brass, and percussion intermediate level ensemble composed of bright young middle and high school students from across the Bay Area.

ECWO musicians experience a wide breadth of repertoire, ranging from classical transcriptions to modern works just a few years old.

Students are given thorough instruction in ensemble balance and intonation while experiencing a rigorous challenge of their technical skills. The ECWO serves as a training ensemble for some students, but it is also often a destination for musicians who prefer a wind orchestra program to a full orchestra.

Honors Wind Ensemble: By invitation of Dr. Roper, El Camino Wind Orchestra’s most advanced members, will learn, in addition to their ECWO music, more challenging repertoire to be performed at concerts during the season. Regular ECWO rehearsals extended by 30 minutes per week for Honors players. Honors players will be selected and notified in the fall.

Financial Obligations

Your required financial obligation will be the Tuition Fee and Ticket Card. At a minimum, the 6-Ticket Card is required. The 10-Ticket card would also fulfill the obligation.

We kindly request 100% parent participation at the level of your ability, for the Annual Fund Campaign.*

Tuition Fee: $1,340 ($536 deposit due with registration; remainder due 9/1)
6-Ticket Card: $90 (due 8/15)

The tuition deposit is due at this time. The other fee (Tickets) can be paid now (see payment options at the end of registration) or by the date indicated.

Golden State Youth Orchestra, like any organization, would appreciate check or ACH payments. These payment methods will help GSYO reduce credit card fees and allow us to allocate financial resources towards orchestra programs.

Check/Electronic Funds Transfer Discount: GSYO offers a fee discount for those who prefer to pay by check or electronic funds transfer (via ACH).
Tuition Fee: $1,300 ($520 due with registration; remainder due 9/1)
Please note, if you make your tuition deposit payment via check or ACH, any subsequent tuition payments (for the season) be made by check or ACH.

Financial Aid: It is the policy of GSYO that no student should be excluded from participation due to financial hardship. Financial Aid is need-based. If you would like to apply for financial aid, please fill out the application (will open below) and make the $100 payment at this time. You must either upload a copy of your most recent Federal Tax Return or mail a copy to the GSYO Administrative Office at 4055 Fabian Way, Palo Alto, CA 94303 to complete your request. Executive Director Seth Ducey will notify you of any amount awarded as soon as possible.

Family Discount: Families with more than one musician enrolled in GSYO can take a 10% discount on the tuition fee (not applicable to tickets or camps/retreats); instructions and information available in the registration forms. Family discount only applied at Spring registration.

*We ask all of our families to make a tax-deductible donation to GSYO during the season. The Fall Annual Fund Campaign is a vital part of the budget, and our goal is 100% participation. Although not required, substantive member donations are an important signal to outside funding organizations. Even a small donation of any size to GSYO during the season can make a big difference when everyone participates. In addition, we ask all families to volunteer at GSYO concerts and on GSYO teams throughout the season.

Review the Financial obligations (add the payment dates to your calendar or submit a credit card authorization form) and read through and fill out the registration forms (see below). The forms outline the code of conduct, attendance and seating policies, health summary, waivers, and financial aid (if applicable). The forms are designed to allow you to work on them, leave, and return later to continue. You do not need to create a Jotform account or sign in with email - select "Skip create account" if that is your preference.

Once you are ready to submit, you will be directed to make a deposit or pay the tuition in full (your choice), make an electronic fund transfer, or mail a check to the GSYO Office. The enrollment is complete when the forms and payment have been received. You should receive an email confirming receipt of your forms to the email you provided.

Seating audition information will be available to the musicians in early June.
