Sinfonietta Orchestra

The Sinfonietta Orchestra, conducted by John Eells, is an advanced-level ensemble for middle and high school students. Sinfonietta students receive intensive training in standard orchestral repertoire. Students may progress in Sinfonietta Orchestra for multiple years and some remain through the end of high school. The Orchestra performs original music chiefly from the classical and romantic periods.

The Sinfonietta Orchestra Season is launched in late August with a three-day local camp: Allegretto. The camp includes sectionals and full-orchestra reeharsal. Sinfonietta performs four times each season, recently making its debut at Flint Center alongside the Senior Symphony. Concerts feature special guest artists and student soloists. Sinfonietta musicians are eligible to enroll in GSYO Chamber Music and are encouraged to participate in the GSYO Solo Competitions.
