Albert Lai

Albert Lai, 12, was born in New York and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2018, where he began learning piano. He currently studies under Dr. Yu-Chi Tai. Albert is a winner of numerous international competitions, including First Prize at the 2026 CAPMT Contemporary Competition, the Charleston International Winter Music Competition, the San Francisco Innovative International Competition, the United States Open Music Competition, and the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, as well as Third Place at the International Vienna Piano Competition in Vienna, Austria. He was invited to perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Seocho Philharmonia Orchestra in Korea in June 2026, and won Third Prize at the OpusOne International Concerto Competition, earning an invitation to perform with the Chamber Orchestra at the OpusOne International Music Festival. At age 11, Albert was also invited to perform at the Winners' Concert in Vienna's Wiener Musikverein. As a winner of the GSYO Concerto Competition, Albert will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 15, I. Allegro con brio.
