Angie Zou

Violin

Angie Zou, age thirteen, is entering the 9th grade at Archbishop Mitty High School. She has been playing the violin for seven years and is currently a member of the Violin I section in the Senior Symphony. She studies with Ms. Zhao Wei, having begun her violin journey at age seven with Ms. Amy Wen.

In 2024, Angie won second place in the United States International Music Competition on the violin. In 2025, she was invited to perform Pablo de Sarasate's Introduction and Tarantella, Op. 43, for Stephen Tavani's masterclass and Henryk Wieniawski's Scherzo-Tarantella, Op. 16, for Espen Lilleslåten's masterclass, both hosted by GSYO. As a pianist, she won First Prize in the 2023 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition and was invited to perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. She has also received top prizes at the US Open Music Competition.

A two-time winner of the GSYO Concerto Competition, Angie first appeared as a concerto soloist with GSYO in 2025, performing Pablo de Sarasate's Introduction and Tarantella, Op. 43, and is honored to return this season to perform the fifth movement of Édouard Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole.
