Ashley Huang is a sixteen-year-old junior at Lynbrook High School. She currently studies violin under Ms. Zhao Wei. This is her fourth season in the GSYO Senior Symphony, where she is serving her second year as the co-concertmaster of the Symphony, as well as the concertmaster of Lynbrook High School’s Chamber Orchestra.
Ashley is a three-time winner of the GSYO Solo Concerto Competition. She made her orchestral debut in 2017 with GSYO, conducted by Mariya Borozina, where she performed Mozart Piano Concerto No. 23. She also performed E. Lalo, Symphonie Espagnole with the Senior Symphony in the 2023 Finale Concert, conducted by Dr. Yun Song Tay.
Ashley has won numerous top prizes in several music competitions, including Silicon Valley Music Competition (2021, 2022 and 2023), Lynbrook Concerto Competition (2021), US Open Music Competition (USOMC) and US International Music Competition (USIMC). Aside from music competitions, Ashley has organized and performed in benefit concerts, raising over $10,000 for Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). She also volunteers to teach violin at a nonprofit organization, Notelove.
Besides music, Ashley loves dancing, producing films and writing. She has competed and won numerous awards in dance, film production and poetry writing. She was crowned title of Ms. Revolution and first place senior overall at the Revolution National Dance Competition in both 2022 and 2023. Her short film was a finalist in the 2023 ONIROS Film Awards in New York. Her previous poetry works were also awarded the Scholastic Gold Key award in 2021 and first place at the 2022 Rotary Poetry Contest.
