Charisse Chao

Violin

Charisse Chao is a freshman at Lynbrook High School. She started to learn the violin at age 5 and currently studies with Zhao Wei. She has won a few awards in competitions such as the Great Composers Competition, Spotlight competition USA, NYICMC, and USOMC. In the summer of 2021, she attended the summer music program hosted by the C’est Bon Chamber Music Academy. Charisse joined GSYO in 2019 and has played in the ensembles: Chamber, Camerata, and the Camilla Kolchinsky orchestra. She joined the Senior Symphony in the 2022-23 season. Charisse has also been studying piano since the age of 3. In 8th grade, she completed the Certificate of Merit advanced level. Outside of music, Charisse plays basketball in clubs and also played for her middle school team.
