Dylan Wray

Orchestra Assistant

Dylan Wray is a recent graduate of Tulane University, where he completed a dual degree in Music and Environmental Studies. While attending college, he was an active performer in the university's ensembles, playing with both the Tulane Orchestra and the Tulane Big Band. During this period, he also gained valuable professional experience working with Make Music NOLA, a classical music organization in New Orleans, where he was involved in providing chamber and orchestra instruction for children.

Dylan's musical journey began early, focusing on the jazz trombone, an instrument he studied with Joe Murphy throughout his childhood. This foundational work led to significant recognition in high school; he was selected as the lead trombone for the prestigious CASMEC Allstate Big Band for four consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019). His high school experience also included playing with the College of San Mateo's Big Band under the direction of Michael Galisatus and Patrick Wolff, and he later served as the lead trombone for Stanford University's Jazz Big Band, also directed by Michael Galisatus.

Outside of music, Dylan has a strong connection to the natural world. Building on his background in Environmental Studies, he's an avid outdoorsman, spending his free time hiking and skiing. On the professional side, he previously worked in logistics in Oakland, CA. He also enjoys music production and regularly spends time making his own beats and music.
