Kou Shimizu
Piano
Kou Shimizu, 15, is a freshman at The King’s Academy. He started piano lessons at the age of five and is currently studying with Ms. Yumi Tayama. He has won numerous competitions internationally, including first place in the United States Open Music Competition, Bay Area Piano Competition, and Great Composers Competition. Additionally, as a winner of the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition in piano, he was given the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall, where he did so recently. At school, he was chosen to be an accompanist for his school’s highest-level choir, Knightshine. He also enjoys playing flag football, where he has advanced to national championship tournaments. Now he plays tackle football on his school’s JV football team.
