Lori Bingham first became involved in music on a dare. Her father bet her that she would quit the flute after one month, so she played it for eight years. She also became proficient on the piccolo, and alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones while dabbling in percussion and failing at trombone. Lori received a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree (Political Science and Microbiology) from the University of California, Davis before settling in at Golden State, where she’s been for the last eleven years. She’s passionate about music education and believes in leaving the world a better place than she found it. She’s proud to have developed the Endangered Instruments Program during her time with GSYO and expects to soon see orchestras everywhere over-flowing with French horns, violas, and double basses. Lori loves travel, movies, and the San Jose Sharks. If she can string together two weeks off, you can assume she's packed her bags and hopped on a plane to somewhere far away. Her favorite destinations include Iceland, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy. Lori hopes to experience a Stanley Cup Parade down Santa Clara Street someday, and considers seeing Jurassic Park in the theater 19 times to be among her greatest accomplishments.
