Lori Bingham

Interim Executive Director

Lori Bingham has been part of Golden State Youth Orchestra for 18 years, bringing energy, creativity, and dedication to nearly every facet of the organization. She joined GSYO in 2007 and has since played a key role in supporting students, families, staff, and faculty while helping the orchestra grow into one of the Bay Area’s leading youth music programs. With a background that blends both the arts and sciences, Lori earned dual degrees in Political Science and Microbiology from the University of California, Davis, but has always been drawn to the transformative power of music education.

During her tenure, Lori developed GSYO’s Endangered Instruments Program, which trains musicians on the least-played but equally essential orchestral instruments—those often overlooked but vital to the orchestra’s sound. She has also worked alongside Music Director Dr. Yun Song Tay to expand student leadership opportunities within the Symphony, giving young musicians valuable experience and a stronger voice in the community. At GSYO, Lori is passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive environment where young musicians can thrive, build community, and experience the joy of performing at the highest level.

Outside of GSYO, Lori is an avid traveler (with Iceland, Ireland, and Scotland topping her list of favorites) and a loyal San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks fan. She has also contributed her time as a volunteer with the Humane Society of Silicon Valley and Stanford Blood Center. And for a bit of fun—she holds the unusual distinction of having seen Jurassic Park in theaters more than twenty times.
