Piyush Shanbhag

Piyush Shanbhag is seventeen years old and a senior at Monta Vista High School. He began learning the viola, his first musical instrument, in the sixth grade. He currently studies viola with Mr. Craig Bate but began lessons with Mrs. Galina Andre. He is exceedingly grateful to all his music teachers for their influence and encouragement. Piyush has been the principal violist at Monta Vista High School's Chamber Orchestra for four years. He started his GSYO career in the Camila Kolchinsky Orchestra as principal violist, and this is his third year in GSYO's Senior Symphony, and his second year as the principal violist. Aside from loving classical music, Piyush is the captain of his school's water polo team and loves to cook.
