Ryan Sheng

Piano, Season Opener Concert

Ryan Sheng is a senior at Evergreen Valley High School. He is a prizewinner of international and regional competitions, including the 1st prize and the special prize at the 10th Rosario Marciano International Competition, 3rd prize at the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition, 2nd prize, Audience Award, and the Young Jury prize at the Emory Young Artist Piano Competition, and the first prize at the 2018 Pacific Music Competition. Most recently, he won the Palo Alto Philharmonic Concerto Movement Competition, the 2020 Ross McKee Foundation Award, Golden State Youth Orchestra Solo Competition, and 2021 Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition. In 2016 he competed with 24 contestants worldwide at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. In 2017, he made his Belgium debut, giving a solo recital at the Brussels Music Festival. As a winner of the 2019 PianoTexas Concerto Competition, he performed Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21, K. 467 with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Miguel Harth-Bedoya.

Ryan has also participated in renowned festivals with full merit scholarships, including the 2019 Cliburn Junior International Piano Competition Festival, the PianoTexas Young Artist program, and 2021 Southeastern Piano Festival.

Ryan was a founding member of Evergreen Ensemble and is a member of Young Chamber Musicians since 2020.

Ryan Sheng is a student of Mr. Frank Levy. He previously studied with Mrs. Anna Polonsky.
