Seth Ducey
Executive Director
Seth Ducey grew up in a home full of art and artists: his immediate family members were a storyteller, photographer, and poet. He was the musician in the family. A graduate of Lawrence University in Wisconsin, Seth comes to GSYO from the Oakland Symphony, where he served as the Director of Operations and Education from 2017-2019. In that role, he managed the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra and Symphony Chorus, directed operations and logistics for the organization, coordinated concert programming, and contracted soloists and arrangers. From 2000-2017, Seth was the Concert Operations Manager and Production Manager at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, working closely with collegiate and pre-college students and faculty, managing the Concert Office and production staff, and renting the Conservatory's performance halls to most of the Bay Area's symphony orchestras and numerous other musical organizations.
A lifetime advocate of music education and youth orchestras, Seth served on the Oakland Youth Orchestra Board of Advocacy for 3 years and was a participant in the 2011 Essentials of Orchestra Management Seminar run by the League of American Orchestras. He is a proud alumnus of the Oakland Youth Orchestra and plays trumpet throughout the Bay Area when time permits.
In his spare time, he enjoys running, high quality news, politics, documentaries, and watching the Oakland A's, Cal Bears, and 49ers (...lose, most of the time).
