Stanford Yu

Piano

Stanford Yu, age seventeen, is a senior Conservatory Honors Fellow and school ambassador at Valley Christian High School, San Jose. His passion for music started on piano at age five and later broadened to violin and viola. He previously studied with Benjamin Choupak and Daniel Cheng, and currently studies with Professor Kevin Fitz-Gerald. Stanford has participated in master classes with Jon Nakamatsu, Alexander Kobrin, Dr. Wei-Yi Yang, and Dr. Ning An. He attended music festivals at Virtuoso & Belcanto, Lucca, Italy and Euro Arts Academy, Poland Summer 2023.

Stanford has won numerous awards, most notable being the Finalist of the International Piano Competition for Young Musicians in Enschede, the Netherlands. In his leisure time, Stanford loves playing water polo and swims on the school varsity team, playing chess, watching movies, and spending time with his pug, named Mozart. He also loves sharing his music through volunteering in diverse organizations. In the future, Stanford will continue to spread his joy with music onward in life.
