For intermediate flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and French horn players.
Fee Policies
- Program cost: $625
- Full fee is due with the application.
- Fees are partially (75%) refundable until June 15, 2022. No refunds will be given after 6/15.
Covid-19 Information
- Full vaccination required for all participants. Booster encouraged for all eligible musicians.
- Masking may or may not be required, depending on local mask ordinances at the time of the activity.
Audition Requirements
Below are the audition requirements for non-GSYO members.
Current GSYO members, please prepare your promotion audition as outlined in the email instructions.
Beginning Strings
- Covid-19 vaccination required
- Minimum 1 year of lessons
- Musicians must be reading notes
- Prepared solo or étude
- Viola/Cello: one or two-octave D major scale with related arpeggio
- Violin: one or two-octave A major scale with related arpeggio
- Double bass: one or two-octave scale of your choice with related arpeggio
- Excerpt: Ode to Joy, arr. Meyer. Measure 30 (no repeat, take second ending) to the downbeat of measure 47.
- Sight-reading
Intermediate Chamber Orchestra
- Covid-19 vaccination required
- Previous ensemble experience preferred
- 2-3 years of lessons
- Prepared solo or étude
- Violin: two or three-octave E major scale with related major and minor arpeggios
- Viola/Cello/Double bass: two or three-octave A major scale with related major and minor arpeggios
- Excerpt: Ancient Airs and Dances, Respighi, arr. Brubaker. Measure 1-downbeat of m. 24.
- Sight-reading
Chamber Winds

- Previous ensemble experience preferred
- 2-3 years of lessons
- Prepared solo or étude
- Prepared major scale, ascending and descending, through four sharps and four flats memorized
- Optional excerpt: Spanish Dance No. 3 (skip rests longer than two measures)
